History

  • 1962

    NPC was founded in Surakarta, Central Java on October 31, 1962 by Pairan Manurung under the name of the Disabled Sports Development Foundation (YPAC). Prof. Dr. Soeharso proposed changing the name of the organization

  • 1993

    At the YPOC VII Musornas in Yogyakarta, 31 October – 1 November 1993, the name was changed from "Yayasan" to "Badan" because the word "foundation" was considered to give the impression of individual ownership. This organization later became the Handicapped Sports Advisory Board (BPOC).

  • 2010

    On July 26 2010, BPOC officially changed its name to the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee, as the only organization that accommodates disabled sports. This follows the IPC letter which requires a name change so that Indonesia can still participate in events under the IPC, such as the Asian Para Games and ASEAN Para Games

After With this transformation, NPC Indonesia has increasingly strengthened its role. Organization It manages the National Training Center (National Training Center) for the Indonesian Paralympics based in the City of Surakarta (Solo), Central Java. Solo is not just a base administrative, but also the center for developing the best disabled athletes in the country. In Here, Indonesian Paralympic athletes train programmed, with support of coaches, medical personnel, classifiers and sports scientists. NPCs Indonesia collaborates with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), local governments, as well as private parties to provide infrastructure, funding, and athlete welfare programs.


Structure NPC Indonesia has also developed into a multi-level organization provinces and districts/cities. Every Provincial NPC and Regency/City NPC tasked with detecting, developing and preparing potential disabled athletes in the region each. With this layered coaching system, NPC Indonesia is making efforts ensure equality of opportunity for all people with disabilities in Indonesia to train and compete.


NPCs Indonesia not only focuses on achievement, but also on social missions for fighting for the rights of athletes with disabilities. Through sports, para Disabled athletes gain recognition, self-confidence, economic independence, and the opportunity to make the nation proud. NPC Indonesia encouraged equality and inclusion by opening equal spaces for people with disabilities disabilities to contribute to national sports.


Performance Indonesian NPC athletes have made their homeland proud in many events prestigious. Starting from the ASEAN Para Games, Asian Para Games, to the Paralympics Games, Indonesian athletes have won dozens of gold medals and made history new, such as Indonesia's first gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. Achievements This is proof that integrated coaching, professional classification, adequate welfare programs, and collaboration between parties is key building highly competitive disabled sports.
